The objective of the project is to support farmers and their partners (such as professional organisations, consulting services, private companies, etc.) to attain a sustainable agricultural production of territories reconverted to drip irrigation.

While the first phase focused on supporting the development of a legal and organisational framework for the implementation of the Nagoya Protocol, the second phase aims at enabling the first steps for the implementation of the Nagoya Protocol at national level.
Three fields of intervention have been identified in order to achieve this objective:
The programme “Promotion of economic and rural development in disadvantaged regions” is embedded into the German Government’s special initiative “Stabilization and Development in the Middle East and North Africa”. The expected outcome of the programme is to improve the economic performance of the local population in the provinces of Ouarzazate, Midelt, Tinghir, Tata, and Zagora. These five provinces which are partly located in the High Atlas mountains belong to the poorest provinces of the country.

The German Technical Cooperation aims to support the agriculture sector at the macro, meso and micro levels through the “Promotion of sustainable agriculture and rural development in Tunisia” project.
AFC has been mandated to support the German Agency (GIZ) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries (MARHIP) in all aspects of implementation of the component.
This project focused on strengthening the coordination and communication between the different actors of the clusters in order to promote sustainable innovations within the SMEs and clusters and the upscaling of these technical innovations at the national and international level.
Through the development of clusters and effective management structures within the clusters, the micro, small and medium enterprises offer high quality products on the national and international markets.
Adaptation measures to climate change in the management of water and soil have a high priority for the Egypt Government. The increasing pollution of water in the irrigation and drainage canals by untreated municipal wastewater and agricultural drainage water is a critical factor that has to be addressed. At the same time, high entries of fertilizer and pesticide residues cause salinization of soils and pollution of water, which leads to a reduction in water productivity and affects the objective of food security adversely.
The Plan Maroc Vert (i.e. Morocco’s Green Plan) Support Programme (PAPMV) aims to integrate poor farmers from the regions Tanger-Tétouan, Fès-Boulemane, and Taza-Al Hoceima-Taounate into agricultural value chains in a sustainable and equitable manner. In doing so, they will benefit from national and international market opportunities and may achieve a higher share of added value to their products. The programme consists of four components: 1) Financing of pilot projects, 2) Cross-cutting activities, 3) Capacity development, and 4) Monitoring and evaluation.
