The Government of Republic of Union of Myanmar requested Asian Development Bank (ADB) for support for the improvement of rural infrastructure, including small and medium-scale irrigation systems, rural roads, and broader development of the rural sector during the preparation of the Country Business Operations Plan for 2014-2016 and the Initial Sector Assessment, Strategy, and Roadmap in agriculture, natural resources and environment sector of Myanmar (April 2013).

Promoting Inclusive Financial Services for the Poor

This consultant will work closely with Financial Regulatory Commission (FRC), Mongolia Confederation of Credit Unions (MOCCU), and Mongolia Cooperative Training and Information Center (MCTIC) to define appropriate content and methods for monitoring and evaluating outputs and outcomes of the project, particularly using randomized evaluation methods to generate more accurate measures of the impact of training methods on Savings and Credit Cooperation (SCCs) and the impact of financial education methods on the target groups.

Capacity Building for Disaster Risk Finance

The expected impact of the TA is improved government preparedness for disaster relief and rehabilitation, and outcome is the government is better positioned and equipped to plan disaster relief and rehabilitation. The TA outputs include (i) catastrophe risk profiling of Bangladesh carried out, (ii) funding gaps for disaster response estimated, (iii) detailed design of the risk finance solutions developed, and (iv) knowledge-sharing workshops on disaster risk finance conducted.

Under the supervision of the team leader, the specialist will:
