Promoting Capacity Building in Financial Institutions in South Asia

The Asian Development Bank has approved 2 facilities in Sri Lanka to the non-banking financial sector for leasing activities and on-lending to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). The ADB funding is being supported by technical assistance (TA), which will help the banks improve capacity to provide MSMEs with longer-term financing. The work will focus on:

(i) strengthening risk management and internal controls;

Feasability Study on Weather Indexed Crop Insurance (WICI)

The development and implementation of the WICI scheme will be undertaken in two phases. Phase 1 will result in the determination of feasibility for introduction of WICI on a pilot scale in Cambodia, and include an assessment of the requirements for its design, establishment and operationalization in Phase 2.

Credit Guarantee System for Economic Diversification and Employment

The proposed Asian Development Bank (ADB) capacity development technical assistance (TA) has been requested by the Government of Mongolia to support ADB’s proposed Supporting the Credit Guarantee System for Economic Diversification and Employment Project. The Ministry of Finance will be the executing agency for both the TA and the loan project, and the Credit Guarantee Fund of Mongolia (CGFM) will be the implementing agency.

The project has been requested by the Government of Mongolia to support ADB’s proposed "Supporting the Credit Guarantee System for Economic Diversification and Employment Project". The TA is designed to provide the support required to implement the project and will be implemented over 2 years from the loan effectiveness date.

Economics of Climate Change in Central and West Asia

The technical assistance (TA) seeks to address the lack of robust evidence on the options and costs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (mitigation) and reduce the negative effects of climate change (adaptation) in Central and West Asia.

The economist will carry out economic modeling and an assessment of the climate change impact and adaptation options across sectors.

The economist will:

(i) conduct economic modeling for Afghanistan, the Kyrgyz Republic, and Tajikistan covering energy and water resources toward 2100;
