German-Ukrainian Agrarian Policy Dialogue

Overall objective: Ukraine's agricultural policy makes an increased contribution to the promotion of sustainable and competitive agriculture and the integrated development of rural areas.

Project objective: Policy-makers as well as experts and managers in the Ukrainian and German agricultural sectors have a growing mutual understanding of key agricultural policy issues. Transferred know-how finds its way into political decision-making processes.

 

German Food Bridge component objective: The component objective is to send food aid from Germany to Ukraine to help people affected by the war and support food security.

 

Outcome 1:

Utilisation of opportunities in agricultural trade with the EU arising from the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA) between the EU and Ukraine has improved.

Outcome 2: 

Regular and informed exchanges on rural development and related institutional frameworks, including strengthening of administrations in selected Territorial Communities (TGs), take place in cooperation with the operational project partner DORADA.

Outcome 3:

Political leaders as well as experts and managers in the German and Ukrainian agricultural sector use the project as a platform for the discussion of central agricultural issues in order to set accents for a modern and sustainable agriculture on a political, economic, scientific and social level.

 

Direct target groups:

  • For the working area of agricultural trade policy: decision-making staff of MAPE, the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as other actors (e.g. associations) involved in agricultural trade policy.
  • For the field of rural development: decision-making staff of MAPE and Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as representatives of selected oblast administrations and territorial communities (TG) at the regional level.
  • Staff of the Agricultural Committee, MAPE and possibly other relevant ministries and institutions for selected topics
  • The target group of the German Food Bridge component are people affected by the war, especially in the war-injured regions, which are suffering from food shortages and lack of income to pay for food.
