We are happy to announce the launch of our new Value Chain Agro Finance project in Kyrgyzstan.

KfW, EIB, and the EU are providing a total of EUR 37m to refinance local financial institutions, to help farmers and businesses along selected value chains gain access to long-term agricultural loans and to improve the quality of domestically processed agricultural products. Furthermore, the selected financial institutions will receive technical assistance, to improve their agricultural lending procedures.

Together with CAIConsulting, we will be supporting the establishment of best agricultural practices in primary production, introduce best available technologies for processing and distribution in the agro-food sector, implement international certification systems, and integrate farmers into strengthened value chains.

End of April, we participated in the kick-off meeting in Bishkek, to prepare the successful project implementation with representatives from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic as well as the EU, KfW, GIZ, the EIB and CAIConsulting.

Ambassador Marilyn Josefson, Head of the EU Delegation to the Kyrgyz Republic, emphasised the importance of the project: “Proper functioning of the agro value chains and testing laboratories has always been demanded by producers, processors and agro-food businesses. To help our Kyrgyz partners in this regards, the EU jointly with the German Government, and the EIB provided financing to the “Value Chain Agro Finance” project. The EU Contribution will support both capital expenditures related to the testing laboratories and the technical assistance for identification of end beneficiaries, advice to end beneficiaries on investments in new technologies, best agricultural practices and training of laboratory staff.

We are looking forward to a successful implementation during the next four years!
