AFC Agriculture and Finance Consultants have actively participated in this year’s Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) in Berlin. The 11th GFFA focused on the subject "Agriculture Goes Digital – Smart Solutions for Future Farming” and therefore on a central question concerning the future of the global agri-food industry. AFC used this forum to share its international experience with Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in Agriculture and exchange with various actors from politics, business, science and civil society.
In line with the theme of this year's GFFA, "Digital Agriculture", AFC presented some of its success stories concerning ICTs in Agriculture in international cooperation projects worldwide, e.g. the smart potato as a traceability tool, mobile and smartphone applications for cultivation advice and modern M&E solutions. The Parliamentary State Secretary Mr. Stuebgen showed great interest in the digital innovations used in different projects implemented by AFC and funded by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) (see pictures). Moreover, AFC was able to strengthen its contacts to innovative ICT start-ups.
AFC project staff and managers from Zambia, China, Ukraine and the headquarters in Bonn (Germany) participated in various professional forums during the GFFA. Furthermore, the current status and events in our projects funded by BMEL in Zambia, China and the Ukraine were reported during project meetings to BMEL and business partners to keep the involved stakeholders informed and to agree on planned activities for 2019.
