Veterinary Strategy in Turkey

The veterinary policy, which undoubtedly is essential for maintaining animal health, public health and food safety and is indispensable to national interests, is also a core element of ongoing accession negotiations with the European Union.

The overall objective of the project is to increase the efficiency of veterinary policies through sectoral multi-annual planning, raise awareness among stakeholders and strengthen their commitment to achieve the defined targets, ensure the financing of required actions, improve the animal health and welfare situation in the country, contribute to alignment with the EU Acquis in the veterinary field and the fulfilment of the relevant closing benchmarks set for Chapter 12-Food Safety, Veterinary and Phytosanitary Policies, as well as Turkey's international obligations in the animal health field.

The main office of the Contractor will be in Ankara where the Contractor will establish a project office. The project shall cover the whole Turkey; site visits will be required to several cities/provinces for gathering data according to the disease situation.

The Data Analyst will

  • Review of available data and determination of specific data requirements for multiple purposes,

  • Conduct of analytical studies on the animal health, welfare and animal identification and registration issues; to make cost-benefit analysis,

  •  Produce reports on analysis.

Qualifications: 

Qualifications and skills

  • University degree in statistics, econometrics, mathematics or similar field,

  • Good command of English.

General Professional experience:

  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience in the field of statistical studies,

  • Experience in an EU-funded project.

Specific professional experience

  • Experience in qualitative and quantitative evaluation methods; especially cost- benefit analysis,

  • Experience  in  a  data-rich  environment with  data  mining techniques and predictive analytics,

  • Experience in the public health or veterinary issues.

Start / Duration: 

The intended commencement date is November 2013 and the period of implementation of the contract will be 24 months from this date.
