Support to agrarian based local economic development
The projects aims at enhancing agrarian based local economic development in Northern Uganda. The intervention is planned for 11 months, from the 09.2018 until the 07.2019. In this context, we are looking for one international and two Ugandan experts who would each work for 11 months on the project. Duty station for all of them would be the city of Gulu.
The component of the GIZ project that we are bidding for will be in charge of strengthening the capacities of as well as the cooperation between district local governments, private sector actors and civil society organizations at local level to enhance agrarian based local economic development.
Key instruments will be capacity development of local stakeholders, the implementation of public-private dialogue events as well as the establishment of public-private-partnerships (PPPs) for implementation of development measures.
Main Tasks:
- Support the operational planning of activities in the project component
- Organization and implementation of trainings in local and regional economic development (LRED / LED) and capacity development of district administrations/district local governments
- Support / advice to the partners in the design and implementation of public-private-civil society dialogue forums
- Procurement of physical assets
- Support the establishment of networks between local, regional and national actors
- Coordination with other project components as well as other actors / donors in the field of local and regional economic development, value chain promotion, education and training
- Monitoring and knowledge management
Professional profile:
University degree in agricultural or economic sciences, or comparable field
At least 10 years of work experience in Uganda in rural development, local and regional economic development, private sector promotion of agriculture, promotion of agricultural value chains, gender
Experience in cooperation with local governments in Northern Uganda
Very good knowledge of the Ugandan agricultural sector / agriculture and the relevant actors (state and private)
Experience in organizing and conducting trainings
Fluency in written and spoken English as well as in local languages of northern Uganda
Experience in international and / or German development cooperation is an advantage
A partner, customer-oriented and efficient work approach, interdisciplinary thinking and training experience are required
Dialogue and moderation skills, diplomatic skills in dealing with political decision-makers, sensitivity and communication skills
Duration of the mission will be 11 months (09/2018 until 07/2019), Duty Station City of Gulu
