Matching Grant Facility the special initiative “One World – No Hunger”

AFC Consultants International is looking for a Team Leader to manage the implementation of the 26 month long project “Matching Grant Facility”(MGF). Project Implementation will begin in April after a 3 month feasibility study (Jan-March).

The project supports agricultural value chain actors’ access to agricultural finance (training and coaching of Agri-SMEs in applying for loans and also in financial management), and also provides a matching grand fund for innovative investments. The project will start in Kenya, Malawi and Zambia and in the second year cover two further countries.

The project will work closely with GIZ’s Green Innovation Centres in the three respective countries which are supporting the milk, sweet potato, soya, groundnut and sunflower value chains with technical know-how with regards to agricultural production and processing. The MGF will focus on providing technical assistance with regards to improved financial management of the agri-businesses, establishing business plans and procedures in order to apply for loans. A matching grant fund will provide support for investment opportunities in value chain innovations (for example solar dryers etc.)

The project will also work with KfW’s LAFCo (Lending for African Farming Company) which provides working capital credit to processors / input providers which are linked to smallholders. The MGF will provide technical assistance with regards to improved financial management, and inclusion of smallholders in outgrower schemes.
