Long-term Expert for Research Coordination for the Dialogue on climate and agriculture in New Zealand (part time 50%)

Background and Rationale:

In the BMEL project “An alliance for the climate - Dialogue on Climate and Agriculture between New Zealand and Germany”, the mutual exchange of experience and cooperation between New Zealand and Germany will be intensified in order to develop solutions for the global climate impact of/on agricultural production systems.

Results

Result 1: Intensification of scientific exchange between practice-oriented research institutions

Result 2: Establishment of a political dialog on priority subtopics

Result 3: Coordination of joint support measures in third countries with a focus on the Global South

 

Tasks of the expert

• Responsibility for and coordination of the implementation of result 1 (see above).

• Establishing and maintaining networks with key institutes in the agricultural and environmental research landscape.

• Development and implementation of a platform concept for research funding opportunities and networking between German and New Zealand institutes. 

Qualifications: 

Minimum requirements:

• Doctorate/PhD

• At least 3 years of professional experience

• Very good written and oral language skills in English

 

Professional background:

• Relevant academic background

• Experience in scientific coordination

• Knowledge of German and European research funding policy

• Experience with agricultural research in connection with New Zealand or countries of the Global South

• Experience with the preparation of analyses/studies

• Experience in international cooperation projects

 

Regional expertise and language skills:

• Work experience in New Zealand

• Work experience in countries of the global South

• Language skills in German

Methodical skills:

• Experience with the organization of scientific conferences and seminars (virtual and face-to-face)

• Intercultural communication and networking skills

• Experience in the field of diversity, inclusion or gender equality

Start / Duration: 

The project is scheduled to run from February 2024 to December 2026 with the option of a one-year extension
