Hydraulic Engineer for the Project “Irrigated Agriculture Development in Ararat and Armavir Marzes” in Armenia

 

Background and Rationale:

The overall Project aims at providing institutional support at central level to the Government of Armenia in policy matters linked with development of modernized irrigated agriculture and strong support at local level to farmers and concerned stakeholders at designing, promoting and financing pilot operations in Ararat and Armavir Marzes.

The central objective of the technical assistance is to modernize the irrigation sector in Armenia to ensure its financial sustainability and performance in the service of agriculture, taking into account the overarching objective of sustainable water resource management.

 

The TA has three sub-components:

·       Public policies & reforms on water management and irrigation efficiency

·       Technical, institutional and social engineering of water resources and irrigation networks.

·       Knowledge, information and monitoring system

 

Qualifications: 
  • Higher engineering education
  • At least 15 years of work experience
  • At least 10 years of experience working in water sector structures or in water sector projects funded by international organizations as a chief design engineer.
  • Participation in at least 1 similar program as an expert
  • Experience in irrigation design development
  • Experience in the development of strategic documents, rules, and programs for the financial sustainability of water sector structures.
  • Work experience in Armenia or in the Caucasus region is beneficial
Start / Duration: 

The project is intended to start in September 2024 with a duration of 24 months. It is a part time position.
