FrançaisThe gum Arabic is one of the four main agricultural commodities exported by the Republic of Sudan and this country is the biggest producer in the world. Over the last ten years, exports represent an annual value around USD 40 000 000.The Government of the Republic of the Sudan wants to enhance its support for the gum Arabic sector by actions on quality of the commodity, capacities of stakeholders and promotion of gum Arabic on both national and international market.
The Ministry of Finance of the Republic of the Sudan, on behalf of the Government, has requested the financial and technical support from the French Development Agency for the structuring of the gum Arabic Sector. The funds will be on-granted to the implementing agency, the Forests National Corporation (FNC). This project aims at contributing to poverty reduction and environmental protection by strengthening the gum Arabic value chain in Sudan and by developing market opportunities for the sector.
AFC is looking for consultants in order to assist the FNC with the implementation of this project with expertise in the following areas specifically with regards to the gum Arabic value chain:
(i) Project management and stakeholder’s animation
(ii) Rural value chain development and quality management;
(iii) Business development and marketing and
(iv) Rural microfinance.
Qualifications:
- University degree in Agribusiness, Economics, Rural Development or other relevant field
- Solid work experience in the Arabic gum sector
- Experience in Sudan (or region) and knowledge of local languages is a plus.
Specific expertise in one of the following areas:
(i) Project management and stakeholder’s animation
(ii) Rural value chain development and quality management;
(iii) Business development and marketing and
(iv) Rural microfinance.
