Global Gateway Facility for Central America

The purpose of the project is to strengthen the participation of civil society (private sector and civil society organizations) in the implementation of the EU-CA Association Agreement to support progress in the trade and sustainable development agenda (labor rights, notably decent work, gender equality and economic empowerment/inclusivity) and related dialogue, and to contribute to unlocking potential for investment opportunities for the EU as well as Central American actors. It targets processes at regional level of the Central American Economic Integration System (SIECA) as well as at member state level (Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama)

 

Duties to be performed by the expert:

Under the supervision of the Team Leader and in coordination with Key Expert 2 and 4, the Communication expert will be responsible for promoting and strengthening strategic communication to position and disseminate at local, regional and international level the results achieved and knowledge products generated by the Global Gateway Facility. The communication expert will be co-responsible for drafting, coordinating and implementing the communication strategy and all visibility tasks under the Global Gateway Facility.

Qualifications: 
  • University degree in communication, public relations, knowledge management or a relevant directly related discipline or minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in communication;
  • Master studies will be considered an advantage;
  • Excellent handling of the English and Spanish language;
  • Excellent multimedia skills in the usage and application of communication tools, software, and digital and graphic tools, including Microsoft Office packages, photographs and graphic design programmes (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and video publishing programmes).
  • Proven writing, content creation, storytelling and editing skills;
  • Proven strategic communication skills;
  • Proven digital and social media management and analytical skills;
  • Media relations and publicity skills will be considered an asset;
  • Interpersonal communication and stakeholder relationship skills will be considered an asset.

General professional experience

  • Experience of at least 5 years in communication, journalism or public relations work preferably applied in Central America. Regional experience will be seen as a comparative advantage.
  • Extensive experience in designing and implementing communication strategies, communication and knowledge products at local, national and preferably regional level, for economic and/or social projects, with a gender and sustainability approach.
  • Proven experience in the graphic design of communication materials and in the production of audiovisual materials will be considered an advantage.
  • Proven experience in strategic communication and excellent drafting and speaking skills.
  • Proven experience in social media and web-design;

 

Specific professional experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in designing and implementing communication strategies, communication and knowledge products at local, national and preferably regional level, for economic and/or social projects, with a gender and sustainability approach.
  • Experience in ensuring effective communication, promoting visibility, ensuring that the knowledge generated is capitalized and disseminated.
  • Proven experience in organizing relevant meetings and events.
Start / Duration: 

480 working days over the project duration of 48 months expected to start in November 2024
