Since August 2015, the German Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) is supporting the „German-Chinese Crop Production and Agrotechnology Demonstration Park“under their bilateral Cooperation Programme. The first project phase ended in July 2018 and it was agreed to extend the project for a second phase until July 2021 (with the option of a further prolongation for one year.
The project site in Jiangsu province is situated on the Huanghai Branch of the „Jiangsu Provincial Agricultural Reclamation and Development Corporation (SKIAD)“, who provides approx. 150 ha for demonstrations and trials.
On the Chinese Side, the Huanghai Branch is the main operational partner of the project; the political partner is the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA).
On the German side, the political partner is the German Ministry of Food and Agriculture, represented by their General Agent for the Bilateral Cooperation Programme, GFA Consulting.
Other operational partners are German / European producers of agricultural machinery (Claas, Deutz-Fahr, Horsch, Lemken, Müthing, Pöttinger and Rauch), providing machinery for soil preparation, harvest, and fertiliser and pesticide application. Bayer and BASF are providing inputs for plant protection.
The project is implemented by a consortium of three companies: AFC Agriculture and Finance Consultants GmbH as lead company, supported by DLG International GmbH with their office in Beijing and IAK Agrarconsulting GmbH.
The core project team comprises of an international Team Leader, an international Long-term Expert, one national project assistant / translator and two national junior experts, seconded by SKIAD to the project. This core team works closely with the Huanghai Farm Management and technical staff for project activities. A project manager and a backstopping team is monitoring project activities from Germany.
The expected results of the project are:
Testing of sustainable crop production methods, using modern agricultural technology and inputs; demonstration of production methods adapted to local conditions on the demonstration fields
Managers and staff of SKIAD and other farms as well as technical staff form other agricultural institutions receive training in sustainable, locally adapted farming methods and use of modern agricultural machinery
The DCALDP project is working as a platform for the dissemination of knowledge and experience in modern sustainable production methods and farm management and is able to spread this knowledge and experience beyond the borders of the SKIAD Holding.
In particular, the expert will be responsible for ensuring that results from the project are processed in a way that they can be published in the form of articles, newsletters or other outputs and will serve as the interface between different project partners to coordinate this public relations work.
In Detail, the long-term expert will have the following tasks:
- Agreements with project partners in the area of public relations and coordination of contributions to the DCALDP platform
- Preparation of information from the project for the various channels of publication (reports, articles for specialist journals and websites, newsletters, WeChat entries, etc.)
- Development of own texts for publication
- Maintenance of the DCALDP website
- Planning, organization and coordination of events such as press conferences (in coordination with the DLG Agro-techService in Beijing), field and demonstration days (especially in coordination with the local partner SKIAD / Huanghai Farm)
- Recording of pictures and videos at public events and important work in the field (harvesting, demonstration of new machines, etc.)
- Establishment of a network and a database for public relations work and maintaining contacts, including cooperation with other Bilateral Cooperation Projects of BMEL in China for joint events and publications
- Development of a Marketing Concept / Corporate Identity for all partners
Requirements for the Long-term Expert
· Degree in agriculture or marketing / PR
· At least 2-3 years working experience in the sectors above
· Experience in working with social media
· Very good English language
· Knowledge of German is a big advantage
