Agriculture Finance Support in Uganda

The Centenary Bank is a Commercial Bank in Uganda with an asset base of US$377 million. Centenary Bank provides financing to all sectors of the economy, but focuses on the micro- and small-scale enterprises. It has an active portfolio of US$35 million that has been lent to the agricultural sector.   Centenary Bank is undertaking an agriculture finance capacity-building initiative in partnership with the World Bank under the Agriculture Finance Support Facility (AgriFin), supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. As part of this initiative, Centenary Bank requests to serve as Technical Adviser on Agriculture Finance.   The consulting services ("the Services") include: Undertaking a strategic and operational review of Centenary Bank's agriculture finance business; Developing a draft operational manual for the business aligned with the bank's credit manual, but incorporating the unique features and needs of the agriculture finance business; Developing a capacity-building framework for agriculture finance; Delivering one set of training events for key stakeholder groups. The services are expected to be provided in three phases
Qualifications: 
At least ten (10) years' experience in managing and/or providing technical assistance/capacity building to financial institutions providing financing for agriculture; Skills in the development of agriculture finance product, targeting smallholder agricultural producers Work experience in similar assignments in undertaking strategic business reviews, including diagnosis and re-engineering of agriculture finance technologies, procedures, and processes Work experience in similar assignments in capacity building in agriculture finance Work experience in a developing country, preferably in Sub-Saharan Africa, which is an added advantage.
