Osmaniye, formerly a district of Adana, became a province in 1996. The first Organized Industrial Zone (OIZ) in Osmaniye became operational in 2004 and since then economic development was further encouraged with today 101 companies employing more than 7,500 personnel located in the OIZ. Despite this already stable increase the industrial potential of the province is still not fully utilised. One of the main deterrents of industrial growth is the weak entrepreneurial infrastructure.
The establishment of an enterprise development centre (Íşgem), can support entrepreneurs during the incubation phase and provide technical and management advice with regard to business planning, financing, product development and marketing.
