AFC is delighted to announce, that with our consortium partners ECO, we have been awarded a GIZ Contract for the implementation of the following project in Mali: “Technical Assistance to the National Programme for Sustainable Small-Scale Irrigated Agriculture (PASSIP) Phase 3: Strengthening of Public and Private Irrigation Service Providers”
During the first two phases (5/2011-5/2017) AFC/ECO has supported the DNGR in the development of a national training plan (PNFIP) and a plan of priority actions to improve the short-term performance of the service providers who are already participating in small-scale irrigated agriculture. 16 curricula with a total of 162 training modules in small-scale irrigated agriculture have been jointly developed with a development commission in the training centres of the Sikasso, Koulikoro, Ségou, Kayes, and Mopti regions.
During the third phase of the programme (6/2017-6/2019) the implementation area will expand to the Timbuktu region and most probably to Gao. We will continue to advise training centres in the preparation of 9 new curricula in the field of small-scale irrigated agriculture. The focus will also shift to assisting the training centres in the development of large scale extension/advisory approaches including Farmer Field Schools and Farmer Business Schools. Furthermore in order to guarantee the sustainability of the project achievements we will work on the institutional capacity building of partner training centres.
The contract has been awarded for a 25 month time period from June 2017 to June 2019.
