Since 2014 AFC, together with its partners ADG and Integration, is implementing the “Technical Assistance Programme to various EIB Financial Sector Operations in East and Central Africa”. This project, funded by the European Investment Bank (EIB), has the overall objective of encouraging economic growth and job creation at the beneficiary borrower level, particularly to small and medium enterprises. The programme currently partners with 27 banks in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda, which represent the variety of the banking sector, i.e. large corporate banks, regional banks as well as microfinance institutions.

The purpose of the TA programme is to ensure that EIB’s long-term loans are fully allocated to creditworthy final beneficiaries, and that they are endowed with sustainable internal structures to be able to continue this activity after their respective loan utilisation. The TA programme therefore aims to strengthen the capacities of EIB’s partner institutions and to ensure that EIB funds are allocated to sustainable MSMEs. Having trained more than 4,400 bank staff and over 5,700 MSME clients in the region so far, the project has experienced a great uptake and has proved to be immensely supporting in improving the banking sector in Eastern Africa.

Being recently approved by the EIB, we are happy to announce the project website for your further reference and information under the following link: www.ta-eca.eu/
