On the 16th-17th of January AFC held its first Agri-Networking Day in Bonn. All team leaders and international staff from our Green Innovation Centre Projects (GIZ/BMZ funded), and Ministry of Agriculture and Food (BMEL) Cooperation Projects participated. We therefore benefitted from contributions from our projects in China, India, Nigeria, Ghana, Mali, Burkina Faso, Morocco and Ukraine. It was a great opportunity for our project staff to meet each other personally, creating a platform for exchange between projects.
The first day of the event focused on discussing experiences, successes and challenges in collaborating with the private sector. Two working groups were set up; one analyzing the experiences in Mali and Morocco, and the other in China and India. Drawing on these discussions, a number of recommendations with regards to collaborating with the private sector were formulated.
The second day focused on the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the agricultural sector. DLG-Akademie and KIAG were invited to hold short presentations and contribute to the discussions. Two working groups were then held, the first focusing on an AFC Community App, and the second conducting a comparative analysis of ICT Tools with regards to demand, dissemination approaches and sustainability.
Feedback from participants showed that the event was a resounding success. We are therefore looking forward to making it a regular occurrence and to welcoming our team leaders again in 2018!
