The EU-financed technical assistance to the Project “Development of the Added Value of Agricultural Value Chains (VAFA)” in Burkina Faso has been successfully launched on Thursday 29th November 2018 in Ouagadougou at the premises of the Directorate General for the Promotion of the Rural Economy (DGPER) in the presence of all stakeholders and technical services.
The VAFA project, which will be implemented over a 5-year period, aims to contribute to increasing, diversifying and improving the quality of the supply of agroforestry products to meet the demand of the country's urban and rural centres as well as for exports. This will be done through the strengthening of inclusive agricultural value chains, in order to improve productivity and enable an increase and better distribution of added value and hence an increase in income for the benefit of producers.
AFC is not only in charge of the third component of the project (institutional support) but also of supporting the coordination of the other two components implemented by DANIDA and AFD. The first one focusses on supporting agricultural entrepreneurship, whereas the second concentrates on promoting contract farming amongst different actors involved along agricultural value chains.
