Sustainable finance expert, green finance expert, value chain expert for Latin America and the Caribbean region

Background and Rationale:

GOPA AFC GmbH is a German Consulting company specializing in the development and implementation of projects specifically in the financial and agriculture sectors. These projects are financed by international and regional development cooperation entities. With extensive experience, GOPA AFC provides technical assistance to international, regional and national stakeholders at various levels.

As part of our activities in Latin America and the Caribbean region, GOPA AFC is seeking for qualified experts/ consultants/ advisors with experience in the financial sector development.

This includes providing support to financial institutions, regulators and micro, small and medium enterprises. We aim to expand our network in anticipation of future opportunities in the region. 

 

 

Qualifications: 
  • University Degree (Master’s) in Economics, Finance, Development Finance, Sustainable Finance, International Cooperation. Any further specialization in Climate Finance, ESG and agriculture finance is considered an asset
  • At least 8 years of professional experience in the financial sector (previous working experience in a financial institution will be considered an asset)
  • Working experience in the sector of sustainable and green finance; value chain finance (from production to commercialization, or at least from production to transformation); climate finance
  • Experience in providing technical assistance to Central Banks and/or financial institutions (ex. commercial banks, microfinance institutions, rural banks, savings and loans cooperatives) through support to product development, strategy development, risk management
  • Adequate understanding of challenges and opportunities of financial sector in Latin America and the Caribbean region; understanding of agriculture and rural sector (e.g. handicraft, tourism, hospitality) is considered an asset; knowledge and previous professional experience in agriculture value chain such as grains, cocoa, coffee, aquaculture will be considered an asset
  • Ability to identify and anticipate risks emerging from SME finance.
  • Previous work in Latin America and the Caribbeans Region (mandatory); experience in other regions (asset)
  • Good organizational and management skills
  • Language English and Spanish (Portuguese will be considered an asset)
