The Senior IT Expert will be responsible for the development of the FADN database and its installation on the MAFWM IT network. The IT Expert’s tasks will include:
Liaise with the Team Leader and MAFWM experts to specify the requirements for the FADN database.
Collaboration with MAFWM IT experts to confirm MAFWM capability and resources to host the FADN database, install the database and enable web access from 33 Extension Offices remote users.
Identify and advise on any potential constraints to the installation of the FADN database on the MAFWM IT network.
Design the database and programme the software according to agreed specifications.
Ensuring the security of the database to protect the anonymity and confidentiality of the data and participating farms.
Training system end-users as required.
Collaborate with the project IT Support Expert to ensure efficient testing, working, bug fixing and maintenance of the system once installed.
Qualifications:
Qualifications and skills:
University degree in mathematics/informatics/engineering or equivalent qualification.
Good spoken and written English.
General professional experience
Minimum 5 and preferably 10 years professional experience in the field of IT and computing.
Experience of delivering end-user training in database use would be an advantage.
Specific professional experience
Minimum 5 years experience in the design, specification, programming, development and operational management of RDBMS with multi-user web access.
Experienced programmer for RDBMS.
Experience of hardware specification for web enabled RDBMS.
Experience of providing data security in multi-user web access databases.
Experience of developing similar databases in similar circumstances to that required by FADN would be an advantage.
