Deforestation-free supply chains (ELKE)

The “Deforestation-free supply chains” program, financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development  aims to improve the framework conditions and capacities of key actors to increase the sustainability of production and marketing in the agriculture and aquaculture supply chains for cocoa, shrimp, livestock, timber and pitahaya, thereby reducing pressure on forest ecosystems in the provinces of Esmeraldas and Manabí.

Tasks of the expert pool:

  • Advise on the establishment of an intervention strategy for gender and youth mainstreaming for the implementation of project actions in the shrimp, livestock, pitahaya, timber and cocoa chains, adjusted for small producers, their actors and organisations in Esmeraldas and Manabí.
  • Support the development of the intervention strategy for digitalisation by integrating processes and international good practices in the shrimp, livestock, pitahaya, timber and cocoa chains at the national level and adjusted for small producers and their organisations in Esmeraldas and Manabí.
  • Support the design of activities with a focus on the integration of cross-cutting themes in the programme's portfolio.
  • Develop materials and virtual platforms for the training processes mentioned in the work packages.
  • Support in the selection and support of projects and alliances between companies and producer associations.
  • Advise on the implementation of technological systems or processes for the implementation of traceability systems for livestock chains.
Qualifications: 
  • University degrees (master’s) in social sciences (specialisation in gender, youth), digital innovation, agricultural-environmental sciences or comparable disciplines), anthropology, sociology, etc.
  • Spanish B2-level in the Common European
  • English C1-level in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
  • General professional experience : 10 years of professional experience in their respective discipline
  • Specific professional experience : 4 years of professional experience in their discipline, with actors and organisations related to chains and work packages
  • 2 years of experience in development cooperation projects
  • 2 years of work experience in working with the private sector, and in mainstreaming sustainability, gender and youth in their work
