In 2014, the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) launched the global initiative “One World no Hunger”. The program “Innovation centres for agriculture and food sector” is a large framework which forms part of this global initiative. It aims at improving income for smallholder farmers, supporting the creation of employment opportunities and improving food supply through innovations in the agriculture and food sector. The program’s country modules have been developed for India and Africa (eleven Sub Saharan African countries and Tunisia).
AFC has extensive experience in cooperation projects focusing on the broad agriculture sector and has a proven track record on implementing PPP projects on behalf of various donors, amongst them the German Ministry for Food and Agriculture (BMEL). AFC will continue its strong engagement in agricultural innovation centres in 2015.
Accordingly, we are looking for rural value chain / agribusiness experts with broad training experience. The following criteria are relevant:
- Minimum 12 years working experience in promotion of technical and institutional innovations for smallholder farmers and/or food industry
- Profound professional experience in technical assistance projects related to rural value chains and/or private sector development in agriculture/agribusiness
- Development of training curricula / courses for agricultural staff from field workers to management
- Experience in supporting public / private extension services
- Experience in assisting farmers’ / value chain actors’ organizations
- Experience as team leader in large-scale project and program coordination, incl. financial management, GIZ experience will be considered added value
- Improvement of sustainable production methods
- Cooperation with partners from the private sector
- Regional experience (India or Africa)
- Solid English or French skills; German is an asset
