Agricultural Financing Kenya

KfW is intending to set up an Agricultural Financing Project in Kenya to improve the access to adequate and sustainable agricultural financial services for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Kenya along the agricultural value chain. The Project is intended to contribute to the growth of investments by SMEs active in agricultural value chains. The Financial Contribution amount is foreseen to comprise separate funds for on-lending of the Project Executing Agency (PEA) to selected Partner Financial Institutions (PFIs). The PFIs will provide credit services to small to medium sized commercial farmers, SMEs and/or producer organizations, primary cooperatives and other establishments involved in value chains. It is foreseen that the credit line will be supported by a grant of up to EUR 1 million for consultancy services to assist the PEA in project implementation. Financing of Consulting Services will be subject to the signing of the respective loan and financing agreements.

The requested Accompanying Measures comprise i.a. (i) Supporting the PEA in implementing the agricultural financing project; (ii) Training and capacity building measures for selected PFIs in the field of agricultural finance; (iii) Design/implementation of a concept ensuring the optimal use of synergies with projects of the German Development Cooperation.

Qualifications: 
  • Profound experience/expertise in Financial Cooperation (FC) agricultural finance projects, agricultural value chain finance
  • Relevant working experience in Kenya and/or the region
  • Experience in the management of FC disposition funds is an asset.
Start / Duration: 

The consulting assignment for the project will be for 3 years
