FrançaisThe estimated consequences of climate change in the Palestinian territories of the West Bank reduce the amount of rainfall and change its seasonal distribution. Simultaneously increasing average temperatures increase the demand for water, especially in agriculture.
The goal of the project is therefore to improve the capacity of the agricultural working population to adapt the management of water and land resources to climate change.
The project supports the agricultural population in areas that can expect an increase of non-conventional water resources. Non-conventional water resources are water resources that originate neither from groundwater extraction nor from the removal of surface water.
Non-conventional water resources are for example rainwater collection, but also the treatment and re-use of waste water.
1 National Senior LTE for irrigation farming with at least 8 years of practical work experience in advising family farms, relevant experience in operation and management of water distribution systems, wastewater reuse and rainwater collection. Experience and knowledge in cooperation with local NGOs and CBOs are required.
Knowledge of the organizational and administrative requirements and procedures of registered agricultural interest groups in line with the Law 17/1956 (cooperative association law) and in the fields of water-use-planning and land-use-planning are considered an advantage. Also, knowledge of the socio-economic situation and development of families in the rural area of the Palestinian Territories are also considered an advantage. Duty location is Ramallah / Al-Bireh with frequent travel to the intervention areas.
The project has a duration of 5 years (01.12.2013 – 31.122018)
