Trainings on the EU Organic Standard for agricultural advisors

The project is integrated into the approaches of the Alliance for Product Quality in Africa (hereinafter: ALLIANCE) as well as the GIZ global sector project “Supporting sustainability aspects in the implementation of EU Economic Partnership Agreements” (hereinafter: NEW). Both the ALLIANCE as well as NEW focus on strengthening agrifood businesses in various African countries by supporting efforts in reaching quality requirements in international trade.

Consulting Services for the implementation of the activities related to the development of the cooperatives in Uzbekistan

Background: The decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on measures for the development of agricultural cooperatives in the fruit and vegetable industry, dated 14.04.2019, helped to establish the first agricultural cooperatives in Uzbekistan. Since then, only a few cooperatives have been established. In 2020, 94 cooperatives were officially operational. In 2021, only 40 cooperatives were left. The main reason is that local specialists, especially staff of the government organizations, have limited knowledge, information, and experience on the role and meaning of cooperatives.

Consulting Services for the implementation of the activities on the topic of development of the organic production in Uzbekistan

Background: Since 1992, GIZ is supporting the economic development and employment in Uzbekistan. This project focuses on organic agriculture as one potential driver for improved business development.

Agriculture accounts for about 32 per cent of GDP and 27 per cent of employment in Uzbekistan, thus playing an important role for the national economy. Organic production is already ongoing in the country and over 5’932 ha are certified for organic products. However, 5,000 ha are certified for wild collection, making organic farming in the classical sense still marginal.

Green and inclusive promotion of small and medium sized enterprises / Improving marketing and export advisory services for agri-food businesses in Algeria

Background

Within the cooperation with the Algerian Ministry of Agriculture, Rural (MADR), the GIZ, in partnership with the Algerian National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRAA), is in charge of implementing the project 'Programme d'appui au secteur de l'agriculture, y compris dans la gestion de l'eau, l'agro-industrie et la pollution agricole (PASA)'.

Conducting of Trainings for Uzbek Cotton producers and selected key stakeholders in the implementation of the BCI Standard System in Uzbek cotton production (2 Phase)

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) is implementing the global programme ‘Sustainability and Value Added in the Cotton Economy’ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The programme is part of BMZ’s special initiative “ONEWORLD – No Hunger” (SEWOH). The partner countries included are Burkina Faso, Cameroon, India and Uzbekistan. The programme aims to foster sustainability along the entire supply chain in close cooperation with the lead firms of the cotton-based textile and garment value chain.

Support for the implementation of the ATCA strategy through organiza-tional capacity building

The project " Strengthening of the reform capacities of Tunisian institutions - Support for the implementation " of the ATCA strategy through organizational capacity building is implemented in Tunisia in the framework of the GIZ project "RECAP: Capacity Building for Tunisian Institutional Reform".

RECAP's main objective is to strengthen the reform capacities of Tunisian institutions, through capacity building measures, in order to create the necessary conditions for the successful implementation of reforms.

Nile Delta Water Management Programme (NDWM) / Consultancy Services in Irrigated Agriculture

Overall project objective: Framework conditions for an efficient use of water in water supply and wastewater management as well as in irrigated agriculture in the Nile Delta are improved

The project activities are clustered in 5 output areas:

➢Subsector Water and Wastewater:

(1) Strengthening management capacities of water and wastewater ACs for an efficient water use.

(2) Initiating measures for efficient water use and climate-sensitive operation of water and wastewater systems by ACs.
