Communication and Design Expert / Regional off-grid electricity access project (ROGEAP)

We are seeking a highly skilled Communication Expert to join our team for the ongoing World Bank Regional Off-Grid Electricity Access Project (ROGEAP) in the ECOWAS region.  

Background and Rationale: 

Financed by the World Bank, the Clean Technology Fund (CTF), and the Government of the Netherlands, ROGEAP is a joint initiative of the ECOWAS Commission and the West African Development Bank (BOAD). The project aims at increasing access to sustainable solar power for households, businesses, public hospitals and schools in the ECOWAS member states. 

ROGEAP seeks to develop a regional market for off-grid solar products by harmonizing policies and standards as well as business procedures, supporting entrepreneurs in business acceleration activities, and providing credits and grants for the deployment of stand-alone solar home systems.  

Tasks of the expert : 

  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies to promote ROGEAP’s goals and activities. 

  • Create and manage content for various communication channels including social media, website, newsletters, and press releases. 

  • Design and produce high-quality visual materials such as brochures, infographics, and reports. 

  • Collect information from other project experts and independently draft communication materials based on that information. 

  • Produce almost daily content for the project’s social media channels.  

  • Maintain and regularly update the project’s website with content.  

  • Produce videos and social media reels to effectively communicate the project's progress and impact.  

  • Organize and coordinate events, workshops, and conferences to engage stakeholders and promote project activities.  

  • Conduct media outreach and manage relationships with journalists and media outlets to ensure positive coverage of the project.  

  • Plan and implement communication campaigns

  • Organize yourself very well and act quickly to adhere to deadlines. 

  • Handle the procurement of goods and services including managing budget and expenses. 

  • Report on communication activities, outcomes, and metrics. 

Qualifications: 
  • Ideally based in Abuja, Nigeria 

  • Excellent proficiency in English; knowledge of French is a plus 

  • Previous experience working in international projects 

  • Exceptional writing skills 

  • Proficient with social media platforms 

  • Strong design skills 

  • Experience in video production and photography 

  • Ability to develop communication strategies 

  • Ability to organize events and develop communication strategies 

  • Good organisational skills (one of the most important soft skills) 

  • Strategic working and thinking and great attention to detail 

Start / Duration: 

Yearly contract with option to extend. Start as soon as possible.
