Rize Tea Research and Application Centre (TRAC)

The purpose of the project is to improve the common R&D, innovation and business development infrastructurethat will be used by the tea producer SMEs in Rize and its environs. The project is composed of 3 components:

  • Improvement of the institutional capacity of the end recipient of assistance (ERA) and Tea Researchand Application Centre (TRAC): This involves the development of a strategic framework that will enhancecompetitiveness of the tea industry; The preparation of business plans, service delivery manuals, and a corporate plan, etc. for TRAC and its departments and the operationalisation of the TRAC,
  • Increasing the productivity and product quality of the tea producing SMEs: The conducting strategic research and studies that would enhance productivity and product quality; The provision of technical assistance to TRAC's R&D and training and consultancy departments in delivery of business development services to the target groups of the project,
  • Increasing the marketing capabilities of the tea producing SMEs: improve the marketing capabilities of tea producing SMEs through both collective (regional) and enterprise-level initiatives.
Qualifications: 

Qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics or Administrative Sciences or Engineering (i.e. Management Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering, Food Engineering).
  • Good command of English (speaking, reading and writing)
  • Full computer literacy
  • Good command of Turkish will be an asset
  • Experience in provision of services on local economic development and/or SME development
  • Experience in projects/programmes/institutions that provides services on economic development of business preferably in food industry.
  • Experience as a team leader/project manager
Start / Duration: 

Provisional commencement date of the contract: 16.5.2016; Initial period of implementation of tasks: 18 months
