Nepal - Agribusiness Innovation Center

The Ministry of Agriculture Development, Government of Nepal (GoN) has received financing from the World Bank towards the costs of the Project for Agriculture Commercialization and Trade (PACT), and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consulting services for the establishment and management of an agribusiness innovation center (ABIC).

The upcoming project covers all aspects of ABIC management including securing appropriate facilities, engaging an experienced management team, providing services to clients as per the ABIC business plan, ensuring effective monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of ABIC activities, reporting to PACT, and ensuring operational and financial sustainability of the ABIC. PACT's support to ABIC will continue at least until current closing date of the PACT (30 June 2018). After this, ABIC is expected to manage its activities autonomously from revenues earned by services provided and fees received from its clients.

Qualifications: 
  • Experience in delivering business development/advisory services to growth-oriented agro-processing ventures;
  • Experience in developing and/or managing incubation programs for growth-oriented agro-processing ventures;
  • Proven ability to attract and build a very strong team of recognized experts for agribusiness enterprise development;
  • Experience and demonstrated capacity to establish, manage and operate a complex, autonomous and financially sustainable entrepreneurial business organization;
  • Demonstrated linkages with leading local and international partners, including agriculture and food processing/technology firms, certification bodies, specialty food markets, investors, technical and business experts, or leading research and development organizations;
  • Demonstrated experience with and understanding of the needs of agribusiness SMEs and agro-processors in Nepal will be considered an added advantage.
