Ssupporting Measures for a Market and Feasibility Study on Agro-Finance in Nigeria
Build a solid understanding of promising commodity groups in the country, how the pieces fit together, what are key constraints, and what interventions can release value and create major growth opportunities for farmers, aggregators and agribusinesses
Identify the business models which financial institutions do and can deploy to help ensure that farmers financed have the access to inputs, technology and/or markets, needed to build productivity and earnings, and needed to make small farmers bankable clients
Build a solid understanding of subsistence vs. commercial small farmers, how the latter are getting access to finance, information and markets, key gaps in finance and other services, which are bankable on their own, and which can be financed as part of aggregation, value chain and agro-dealer models
Identify the most competent financial institutions (or facilities) for agri-finance and provide a systematic assessment of their competencies to succeed in financing large numbers of
commercially oriented small farmers and others in the value chains.
Support banks in building or expanding business models which involve collaborations with aggregators, agribusinesses and agro-dealers to provide the mix of financial and nonfinancial
services, reducing the risk and costs to the banks in financing agriculture in general and small farmers in particular
Be able to select from four to six potential KfW engagements in Nigeria which will be pivotal in building competitive agriculture and agribusiness.
Qualifications:
Univeristy Ecductaion in Finance, Economics or Agriculture with focus on Economics
Professional experience
Regional experience includes the country and neighbouring countries with similar political, socioeconomical and cultural conditions
It is particularly expected that the team leader has project- and job/post-related experience and has completed similar tasks in similar projects of similar magnitude and with international financing
