The agriculture and agribusiness sectors are key to ensuring food security for the continuously growing world population. In addition, agriculture is an important economic driver especially in emerging and developing economies. Agricultural value chain finance can play a key role to leverage efficiencies and enhance the quality along the agricultural value chain from production and post-harvest handling to processing, wholesale, retail, and support services such as storage and transport.

 L'expert/e sera en charge de coordonner les ressources mises à la disposition de l'assistance technique afin d’atteindre les résultats assignés au contractant. Sa mission principale sera d’apporter un appui à la DUE pour les différentes tâches de gestion, de pilotage, coordination, planification, exécution et suivi-évaluation de l’ensemble du programme.

As the country's most important sector, the agricultural and food economy secures the livelihood and income of more than 5.7 million people (72 % of the economically active population), the majority of whom are women.

However, the sector has low productivity overall and is still strongly oriented toward self-sufficiency.
