TRAININGS FOR AFRICAN AGRICULTURAL ADVISORS: REVISION OF THE EUROPEAN ORGANIC REGULATION

Background: 

In 2014, the European Commission commenced an update of the regulatory framework regarding organic production. After a long revision process a new Regulation (EU) 2018/848 on organic production and labelling of organic products was published, which entered into force by January 1, 2022.  

Our Trainings: 

From February to May 2022, AFC will offer 3-day trainings for agricultural advisors from 13 African countries. The project’s main objective thereby lays in raising awareness about the New Organic Regulation to inform about the specific changes that come along with the revision. This will help participants to identify the impacts the regulation will have on organic agricultural and processing activities.  

The project is a joint activity of the Alliance for Product Quality in Africa as part of the Special Initiative for Training and Job Creation and the global project ‘Supporting Sustainability Aspects in the Implementation of EU Economic Partnership Agreements (NEW)’, implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. 

For the implementation of the trainings, AFC works together with Des Enjeux et des Hommes, a subsidiary of the ECOCERT Group as well as  Starfish Organic. The trainings are composed of webinars and E-learning modules.

Do you live or mainly work in one of the countries for which the trainings are offered?  

Do you have expertise in the field of organic agriculture and work experience as an agricultural advisor?  

Are you familiar with the basic requirements of the former organic EU Regulation?

Après un long processus de révision, un nouveau règlement (UE) 2018/848 relatif à la production biologique et à l'étiquetage des produits biologiques a été publié, et est entré en vigueur au 1er janvier 2022. 

Nos formations :
