The Project aims at ensuring that EIB’s SME and Microfinance loan facilities are allocated to creditworthy Final Beneficiaries and that a number of up to 41 Financial Intermediaries (FIs) are endowed with sustainable internal structures to be able to continuously support the East and Central African MSME sector.
This will be achieved through the implementation of the following components:
- Design and deliver training programmes focussing on Credit Risk Management, Operational Risk Management, Product Development as well as other topics (e.g. Sales, Leasing, Basel 2/3, Business Planning, Agricultural Lending) to FIs.
- Provide specific capacity building activities via consulting interventions to the FIs.
- Organise series of nationwide support actions for M/SMEs.
- Oversee the whole program as well as coordinate and supervise the provision of the above TA components to the various Financial Intermediaries and provide a first level control of the allocation requests. Support the FIs in their reporting requirements and questions with regard to EIB’s activities in East Africa.
