The overall objective of the project of which this contract will be a part is to support the national administrative capacities to ensure improved levels of food safety over the whole food chain.
The purpose of the project is to:
- Set up a cost-efficient laboratory network capable of providing reliable and timely information on the safety of marketed food and animal health, and
- Enhance the capacity of the laboratory network to carry out monitoring and analysis of food and feed products with specific reference in the fields of pesticide residues monitoring, microbiological diagnostics in food and feed, food quality standards, animal diseases, in accordance with the improved standards.
Key Expert 2 – Veterinary Expert (250 w/days)
Qualifications and skills
University Degree or equivalent, in Veterinary, or a relevant discipline to the scope of the project
Postgraduate qualification in complementary fields relevant to the position would be an asset,
Knowledge on laboratory information systems
Knowledge on the procedures required for the establishing of relevant laboratory ISO (17025) standards,
Fluency in written and spoken English
General Professional experience
Preferably 12 years of working experience in a veterinary service of an EU member country, candidate and/or potential candidate country, but a minimum of 10 years is required.
Specific professional experience
Preferably have more than 5 years working experience in an accredited laboratory on animal health on the diagnostics of animal diseases, but not less than 2 years.
Recent experience (within the last 15 years) in preferably two, but minimum one, projects regarding training of laboratories staff in the diagnostics of main animal diseases
The operational base for the project will be in Tirana, Albania in offices provided by the Food Safety and Veterinary Institute of Albania.
The intended start date will be January 2016 and the period of implementation of the contract will be 36 months from this date.
