EU–Africa partnership on cotton

The task of the Communication expert will include:

  • Liaise with programme stakeholders, and in particular partner IOs and regional Focal points, for the retrieval and dissemination of programme related information;
  • prepare inputs for the websites (e.g. press reviews, actions’ fiches, commodity sector update) and update them;
  • post the news on and update the website;
  • draft and circulate regular information letters (addressed to all registered persons), bulletins (addressed to all programme stakeholders: IOs, EC and ACP Secretariat);
  • prepare information working papers and documents for workshops or any other event;
  • prepare targeted power point presentations on the programme and its implementation;
  • if deemed necessary, organise press conferences and participate in the mobilisation of the press when needed and requested by the TAT/or Programme Steering Committee ;
  • draft regular press releases;
  • identify and feed the database of contact details of cotton sector stakeholders;
  • identify and provide direction to the web service provider to develop new web pages depending on the needs identified;
  • advise regional Focal Points on communication strategies and products;
  • any other work relating with the programme promotion and visibility;
Qualifications: 

Qualifications and skills

A university degree in communication sciences; journalism; social sciences; languages; and any other relevant discipline (or equivalent professional experience of 10 years minimum)

Fluent in English and French (writing in English and French is essential)

 

General professional experience

Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in donor funded projects

 

Specific professional experience

At least five (5) years experience in fields implying information sharing and communication with a wide range of stakeholders

A good knowledge of computer tools, notably publishing tools

Good knowledge of ACP-EU cooperation environment.

Knowledge of agricultural commodity sector in developing countries will be an asset.

Start / Duration: 

The project will be based in Brussels, Belgium. The activities of the project will be carried out principally in the ACP Africa /EU region. Specific activities might be implemented worldwide.

The intended commencement date is 2 April 2013 and the period of implementation of the contract will be 45 months from this date.
