Tasks of the Team Leader:

Build EduFinance Training Materials and conduct EduFinance Trainings for OI partner MFIs

 Opportunity International (OI) is building an EduFinance Technical Assistance Facility. This facility assists MFIs in building and expanding their portfolio focused on schools, school fees and other education related activities. An important assistance element regards training staff of partner-MFIs in acquiring, analysing and handling EduFinance clients. Together with ADG, OI have developed training materials divided in nine modules.

Promoting Rural Development in Northern Uganda (PRUDEV) – Field of Action 5: Water for agricultural production

PRUDEV promotes the agricultural-based development of the rural economy in selected districts of Northern Uganda. The target group of the project is the rural population with a focus on women and young people. It works in five complementary fields of action: i) strengthening of district governments, ii) SME support, iii) access to finance, iv) monitoring of climate emissions  - the fifth field of action v) water for agricultural production falls under the responsibility of AFC/GOPA.

Biodiversity Financing Facility

More than 85% of Ugandans live in rural areas. Despite this, agriculture contributes only 22% of Uganda’s overall domestic production, and food production barely satisfies the demand of the rapidly growing population. However, according to the 2016 Poverty Assessment, Uganda has reduced monetary poverty at a very rapid rate. The proportion of the Ugandan population living below the national poverty line declined from 31.1% in 2006 to 19.7% in 2013.

Die Mehrheit (76 Prozent) der Bevölkerung erwirtschaftet ihr Einkommen primär in kleinbäuerlicher Produktion in der Landwirtschaft.

Consulting Services to Improve Data Utilisation of the Credit Reference System by Participating Institutions and the Bank of Uganda

In December 2004, Bank of Uganda (BoU) formulated a Policy Paper for the Establishment and Operation of Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) Services for supervised financial institutions in Uganda. BoU licensed only one provider, due to the small size of the Ugandan credit market at that time.
