The programme “Technical Assistance to the National Programme for Sustainable Small-Scale Irrigated Agriculture” was launched in 2008, to support the rural population in Mali in using the irrigation’s economic potential to reach a self-sustaining agriculture”.
Ziel des Projektes: Kleinbäuerinnen und Kleinbauern sowie staatlichen Beratungsdiensten und privaten Dienstleistern in Mali steht eine innovative IKT-basierte Lösung (App) zur die Minimierung von Ernteausfällen durch Pflanzenkrankheiten, Nährstoffmangel und Schädlinge, zur Verfügung.
Das Projekt besteht aus folgenden Komponenten:

Das Vorhaben unterstützt prioritär die Wertschöpfungskette Straucherbse (pigeon pea). Darüber hinaus ist geplant, in einem geringeren Umfang und im Rahmen von Entwicklungspartnerschaften mit der Wirtschaft (EPW) die Wertschöpfungsketten Reis und Baobab zu fördern. Zielregion ist der Beira Korridor und hier insbesondere die Sofala Provinz. Das Vorhaben wird über vier Handlungsfelder umgesetzt:
(1) Innovationen in kleinbäuerlichen Betrieben;
(2) Innovationen für vor- und nachgelagerte Akteure;
(3) Stärkung der Selbstorganisation der WSK-Akteure;

The Programme aims at increasing the employment and income situation of SMSEs in selected sectors.
The technical assistance focuses on improving the political and economic framework, the services for MSMEs and their management capacities. Services include:

The Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) mandated the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH with the implementation of the global program ‘Promotion of nutrition-sensitive potato value chains in East Africa’. The project runs from 01/2016 to 06/2021 in two countries, namely Kenya and Uganda. In Kenya the implementation has already begun whereas the implementation for Uganda is planned to begin in October 2017.
The Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) mandated the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH with the implementation of the global program ‘Promotion of nutrition-sensitive potato value chains in East Africa’. The project runs from 01/2016 to 06/2021 in two countries, namely Kenya and Uganda. The objective of the Project is to increase the revenues of smallholder farmers, the rate of employment as well as the provision of food to the local population by means of disseminating innovations within the mango and the potato/horticulture value chains.
